What Mary Caroline thought was just a Memorial Day weekend getaway turned into the surprise of a lifetime. She was convinced an engagement was coming later in June on a family trip, so she paid no attention to their first trip to Charleston.

Thinking she had planned the weekend itinerary, MC had no idea Grant had bigger plans. On their way to what she thought was their first stop, drinks at The Dewberry, Grant secretly added a detour to a beautiful historic Charleston church. Surrounded by fountains, greenery, and a charming courtyard, the two stepped out of the car and wandered inside. That’s when Grant got down on one knee and asked her to marry him.
